Dr. McNairy gets to meet Dr. Bruce Lanphear, Professor of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University and expert in environmental exposures to children’s health and adult cardiovascular disease, during a visit to WashU! Dr. Lanphear’s landmark 2018 Lancet Public Health Paper quantified low-level lead exposure contributed to 256,000 deaths a year form heart disease in the US. This paper inspired the Haiti CVD Cohort study to investigate lead exposure in urban Haiti and it’s association with the rising CVD epidemic in low-income settings.
